John D. Crain

	John D. Crain, age 83, Caseyville, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at 2:01 a.m. in the Veterans Administration Center, Marion.
	John was born in Cambria on February 23, 1918, the son of Grover C. and Esther (Brandon) Crain.  He married Eileen Bumann on February 23, 1938 in Pinckneyville and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1990.  He was a mechanic at Broadway Ford, St. Louis, Mo., a member of United Methodist Church, Caseyville, and a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army.
	Survivors include son, Keith Crain and wife Joyce of Marine, Ill., two brothers, Denzil Crain and his wife, Charlotte, of Baldwin, Ill., and Dennis Crain, and his wife, Bonnie of Phoenix, Ariz., three sisters, Belva Birkner of Pinckneyville, Loveda Jean Robinson of Pinckneyville and Roma Blaise, and her husband, Harold of DuQuoin, seven grandchildren, Terry Ryder, Susan Ward, Kathy Hollen, Lisa Gjerswald, Christina Becker, John Crain and Brian Crain and three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Jack L. Crain and a great-grandson, Brennan Kutz.
	Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m. in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, with Bro. Rob Mathis officiating.  Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick.
	 Friends called at the Pyatt-harrawood Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, on Friday, April 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until services.
	Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Veterans Administration.
